Good shooter for what it is. In the recent years we have seen a surge of "realism" shooters, and I'd say we have been moving into "ultra-realism" shooters, which may very well be called simulators in the future.
ET:QW gives us an excellent sci-fi style shooter combining elements of Quake with the experience/reward system we all came to love in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. However, Quake-nuts beware. THIS IS NOT YOUR QUAKE. Just as Wolf:ET was not Wolfenstein, QW:ET is not your standard quake. The GDF and Strogg are still there, but you will immediately realize that there are very different elements in this game.
Features: 4 Upgrades per upgradable section. 4 Total sections, including 1 unique section dedicated to each class.
At least two weapons available per class (only one of which requires an unlock to access the second, other classes unlock additional weapons as well), and 5 unique classes.
With deployable AI units such as defense turrets and radar each class fills a niche.
With excellent graphics on the high end of the spectrum, the game is still playable for people without high end systems with low settings. I was able to play on my old system which had a Gforce 5900Ultra and 2gig ram.
Overall thoughts: Worth a play, and feels much less serious than newer games which stress realism. The addictive factor is also very great with persistent stats updated every time you play, earnable metals to brag about and show off through the community; Quake Wars: Enemy Territory will leave you with an odd combo of twitch style reflexes and MMORPG addiction to "leveling up"
