I bought this game pretty stoked about playing it. I install, jump in for instant action, computer freezes. I then think to check for patches after a hard reset of the comp, get the game current and then POW! WHAM! WHOOSH! I'm back in ready for a little instant action, server browser and then I'm in. Game freezes but i can hear the battle sounds and I know, I mean really know that its just a cache issue and it's gonna clear up any second. It doesn't.
luckily this time I'm able to alt-f4 out and save the computer some stress. I browse the forums to see whats going on and seems to be a common problem without any solution or workaround currently. I start on some Single Player which started out working fine. About the third "level" I'm having somewhat of a good time, and my computer, vista mind you, blue screens.
Long in the short, after the need to hard reboot five times, and two bluescreens, I've given up on the game until I hear from someone, "Dude you got to play!". I've yet to hear that, and from what I've seen, most people have yet to even see this game.
On the controls side, I think that this game was designed first for Consoles then for PC. I've always had issue with this, especially when there are some advanced things (ie. your remote controlled items in this game such as helicopters and mini-rovers) that you have to deal with. The default control layout is semi-complex and in my opinion, not very PC gamer friendly. Game: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Pulled it off well, with simple toggle controls and limiting the amount of user end engagement needed outside pulling the trigger. FOW should have looked into something similar.
Graphics are clean but a bit cookie-cutter, sound is not bad, nothing stands out about this game though...
